Use LMD water judiciously, Eatala tells farmers, people

Karimnagar: The water that was released from Lower Manair Dam (LMD) must be utilised in a reasonable manner without wasting even a single drop, Finance Minister Eatala Rajender suggested farmers and people. He released water from LMD in Karimnagar on Wednesday.

Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said steps were taken to supply water for irrigation purpose in Rabi season. Water from LMD was released to fulfill the drinking needs of people of Warangal district and for irrigation purpose to the farmers of Karimnagar district, he informed.

Because of the initiation taken by Karimnagar MP Boinapally Vinod Kumar, MLC Naradasu Lakshman Rao and MLA Gangula Kamalakar the water was released into SRSP canal for the first time from Manjeera, Singur and Nizamsagar projects to supply water for Rabi season to the farmers, who faced huge loss due to insufficient water supply in Kharif, said the Minister.

About 14 tmc water from SRSP canal will be supplied to LMD. Since water availability is less, both people and farmers must use the water judiciously without wasting even a single drop. Minister Eatala ordered the Collector to take precautionary measures to prevent water theft by using motors at various places. All steps were taken for supplying water till April, he assured.

Karimnagar MP Boinapally Vinod Kumar, MLC Naradasu Lakshman Rao, MLA Gangula Kamalakar, ZP Chairperson Tula Uma, Telangana Cultural Department Chairman Rasamai Balakishan and SRSP Chief Engineers were present along with others.
