DGP bats for technology for safer Telangana
Hanamkonda: Director General of Police (in-charge) M Mahender Reddy, who was on his first visit to Warangal Police Commissionerate as the head of State police on Thursday, stressed for greater emphasis on strengthening people-friendly policing.
After inaugurating the Command Control Centre established in the Police Headquarters here, the DGP reviewed its workmanship. Later he made a few suggestions to the officials. Speaking to station house officers in the Commissionerate limits in a video conference, he elicited a detailed information about the crime situation.
On the occasion, the Commissioner of Police G Sudheer Babu explained about the programmes being taken up in the region through power-point presentation. The DGP said: ''The aim of the government is to provide conducive atmosphere for the entrepreneurs thereby paving way for industrial development in Warangal. The development depends upon safety and security of that region hence the onus is on police department to make Warangal, the destination next after Hyderabad, safer.''
Referring to the need for adopting newer technologies in crime detection, the DGP said that their emphasis is on improving CCTV surveillance. Each CCTV camera is equal to 100 personnel, he added.Earlier, the DGP also inspected the works of Commissionerate towers.
DCPs Venkat Reddy, Venkateshwarlu, Malla Reddy, additional DCPs Pooja, Muralidhar and Ashok Kumar were among others present.
