Water to all households in 3 months: Sircilla Collector

 Sircilla: The all-important trial run of water pumping, part of Sircilla-Vemulawada-Choppadandi (SVC) segment under Mission Bhagiratha, had been successfully conducted in Sircilla district on Friday. 

Following the completion of intake well at Rudraram under Vemulawada Rural mandal and water treatment plant at Agraharam village, the irrigation officials conducted a trial run of 8.8-kilometer long pumping. This was announced by District Collector Krishna Bhaskar during the Republic Day celebrations at the district headquarters.

“All households in the region will get drinking water in the next three months,” Krishna Bhaskar said, referring to the special focus laid by Municipal Administration and Urban Development (MA&UD) Minister K T Rama Rao. He said the Minister had been reviewing the progress of works at regular intervals.

It may be noted here that water sourced from Mid Manair Dam at Rudraram will be pumped to Agraharam water treatment, which has the capacity of 120 million litre a day (MLD). It may be noted here that Rs 1,132 crore SVC segment was aimed at quenching thirst of entire Rajanna-Sircilla district, around 8 lakh population, which also covers Choppadandi constituency. In all, the SVC segment covers 290 habitations in 12 mandals spread across Sircilla, Vemulawada and Choppadandi constituencies.
