BSNL sets up 19 hotspots at Medaram

Warangal: The public sector mobile services provider Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has set up as many as 19 mobile hotspots at Medaram village and its surroundings to offer free Wi-Fi internet service to the devotees.  

The devotees taking part in the biannual Sammakka Saralamma Jatara can immerse themselves in hassle-free online activity sharing their pictures and their pilgrimage updates on social media platforms with their near and dear. The BSNL Warangal Circle Principal General Manager K Narender said that an individual user may use up to 500 mb of data per day. For the first time a bandwidth of 10gbps which can handle a large number of connections with ease is being employed, he said here on Monday.

The hotspots were set up at Temple Gaddelu, where the tribal deities will be installed, Chilakalgutta, Jampanna stream, Reddygudem, ITDA guest house, English Medium School, PHC, RTC bus stop at Medaram village along with Gattamma Temple, Narlapur, Kothur, Oorattam cross road and Tadvai bus stop.

The BSNL has taken up the initiative to address the increased demand for mobile data during Medaram jatara. Besides setting up the mobile hotspots, measures like setting up additional mobile towers have also taken to handle the mobile call traffic at the village, Narender added.

He explained that as soon as a smart phone is connected to any of the hotspots, the user will be prompted to feed his details and phone number. A one-time password (OTP) will be sent to the phone and on confirming it, the Wi-Fi service is initiated until the limit is reached.

A total of 19 mobile towers were located at Medaram village in addition to 21 towers en route Warangal and Tadvai for an uninterrupted mobile connectivity, he noted.
