People told to protect planted saplings
Karimnagar: It is the responsibility of every citizen to protect the saplings that are planted under Haritha Haram programme for establishing pollution free society said the Commissioner of Police V B Kamalasan Reddy here on Monday.
The police personnel along with Municipal Commissioner Shashank and Officer on Special Duty of Haritha Haram Anjaneyulu and with the members of the Peace and Welfare Committee participated in ‘Shrama Dhanam’ programme and removed the weeds that are grown in the Markfed area where the saplings were planted by police department under third phase of Haritha Haram programme.
Speaking on the occasion, the Commissioner of Police V B Kamalasan Reddy said that as many as 25,000 saplings that were planted under third phase of Haritha Haram in the Markfed and City Police Training centre. With the help of drip irrigation system using three bores the saplings are provided water regularly. Keeping in view of coming up summer all the necessary steps were taken for giving protection to the planted saplings, he added.
To protect the planted saplings from grazing animals fencing is being laid around the planting region with the cooperation of the District Collector Sarfaraz Ahmed. More than 95 per cent of saplings will be protected, he assured.
The members of Peace and Welfare committee must participate actively in such programmes. The members will be given rewards who participate in the developmental activities. The names of the members will be deleted from the committee who show disinterest in attending such programmes, warned the top cop V B Kamalasan Reddy.
The Assistant Commissioner of Police P Venkataramana, II-town Inspector Mahesh Goud, Carporators B Srikanth, Reserve Inspectors Mallesham, Johny Miya, Chandrashekar, Members of Peace and Welfare Committee Madhusudhan Reddy, Janardhan Reddy, Ramesh Reddy, Thiyati Jayaraj, Abdul Gaffar, Jabbar, M A Rafeeq, Seeraj Ahmed and Renuka were present along with others.
