Telangana govt first in implementing women’s rights
Karimnagar: Outlining the steps taken by the TRS government for protecting women like SHE Teams, Hack Eye application etc, Karimnagar ZP chairperson Tula Uma stated that the Telangana government stands first in the country in the implementation of women rights as also their protection.
Women and Child Welfare Minister Maneka Gandhi spoke at the National Women’s Commission convention held at Vignan Bhavan in New Delhi on Wednesday.
As many as 40 women from Telangana participated in the convention, including Uma, regional coordinators Mula Vijaya Reddy and Rena; Telangana Women’s Commission Chairperson Tripurana Venkataratnam; and representatives of a few non-governmental organisations.
At the convention women leaders from Telangana interacted with those from other states to know the programmes organised by them for the benefit of women.
Among the topics discussed were prevention of domestic violence, sexual harassment at work spots, women’s marriages in foreign countries, acid attacks on women and rapes and the likes.
