Update: 2018-02-01 06:45 IST

Hanamkonda: Utmost transparency is being maintained in the process of current Ph D admissions in Kakatiya University (KU), stated the university Vice-Chancellor Prof R Sayanna.

Speaking to the press on the university campus in Hanamkonda on Wednesday, he appealed the candidates, who applied for admissions and appeared for the entrance test, not to give ear to the rumours being spread by some persons regarding irregularities in the process of admissions.

This, he said in the wake of frequent protests by some student organisations complaining about alleged slip-ups in the process of the Ph D admissions. It may be noted that some of the organisations even demanded to cancel the entire process and issue fresh notification.  “It is sad that the students are staging protests very often. It harms the university reputation. Admission process is thoroughly scrutinised by subject experts, deans, chairmen of board of studies of different departments,” the Vice-Chancellor (VC) explained.

He said everything related to the admissions is being done as per the University Grants Commission norms. The merit list of the entrance test is already uploaded on to the KU official website for the benefit of the candidates.

Referring to the delay in completing the admissions, Prof Sayanna said the delay was caused since the university administration wants to carefully monitor every phase of the process so as to avoid any mistakes. The shortage of staff is also a reason for the delay, he said adding within a week’s time the final list of the candidates, who secured admissions will be released.

Before the announcement of the list the deans of the respective departments were asked to present a report on the process of the candidates’ selection. The Dean, department of commerce, Prof S Kameleshwar Rao noted that it is wrong to point fingers at the Vice-Chancellor or the university Registrar for everything related to the Ph D admissions. The deans have asked the V-C to hold them responsible for the process.

Deliberations have also been held with the protesting students and they are given counselling on how the process of Ph D admissions is going on. Those who didn’t find their names in the entrance merit list are creating trouble, he added.

Registrar Prof K Purushotham, who is also the dean, department of arts, deans of different departments, S Srinath, T Srinivasalu, G Achaiah, S Mahender Reddy and others are present.
