Hanamkonda: An open-air auditorium near Padmakshi Temple in Hanamkonda would be constructed soon for the promotion arts and culture, informed Warangal West MLA Dasyam Vinay Bhasker. A proposal in this connection has been submitted to the State government, Telangana language and culture department. The auditorium would serve to organise events like Saturday Sandadi and others on regular basis, the MLA said.

Vinay Bhakser on Thursday interacted with artistes, social workers, members of different cultural organisations and senior citizens in the city at ‘Atmeeya Sammelanam’, which he conducted here. He solicited suggestions from the participants on developing the city as a cultural hub in the days to come.

He said Warangal city having a great historical and rich cultural heritage has got immense potential to become a hub for cultural and artistic activities in Telangana. Last year several events like Kite Festival, Kashmir Festival have been conducted towards that end.

This year, though such events were planned to be conducted in January, they could not be materialised as the district administration was engaged in Medaram Sammakka Saralamma Jatara, Vinay Bhasker said. He informed that an event Gudi Sambaraalu would be organised at Bhadrakali Temple on Friday under the aegis of Parampara Foundation. Odissi dance by a troupe led by Orissa Dance Academy mentor and Padmashree award recipient Aruna Mohanty would be performed.

They suggested that every year a dance festival should be conducted in the city and efforts to promote drama and folk arts and to introduce classical arts at primary school level should be made. They appreciated the MLA for bringing all the artists under one platform for the promotion of arts.
