Sircilla: Unless the people go into water conservation mode, the ensuing summer will be a disaster, District Collector Krishna Bhaskar exhorted. After launching several developmental works at Stambhampally village under Boinapally mandal on Wednesday along with Choppadandi MLA Bodige Shobha, he said that people need to understand the efforts of the State government to assist the farming community.

“The government’s intention behind providing 24-hour power supply is to give a fillip to agriculture sector, hence the onus is on farmers to use it judiciously,” the Collector said. The automatic motor starters used by farmers in running the pump sets are likely cause ill-effects as they draw water more than the requirement, he added.

Injudicious drawing of water could lead to depletion in groundwater levels, Krishna Bhaskar said, appealing to farmers to take up water conservation methods. He said that in last two-and-a-half-year, three sub-stations have come up in Boinpally mandal to address the voltage problems faced by the people.

“In all, 15 sub-stations have come up in Choppadandi constituency in last couple of years,” Choppadandi MLA Shobha said. She urged the Collector to provide compensation to those, who lost their land in Gundannapally village to Stambhampally reservoir. Earlier, the Collector and MLA laid foundation stone for developmental works including Sub-station and CC roads worth around Rs 1.75 crore.
