In addition to that the corporation personnel were burning the garbage causing air pollution. As the above spot situated near Bhadrakali Lake, a drinking water source to the city, dumping of the garbage was also causing ground water pollution, complained the local residents. It was not proper to burn the garbage as it would harm the health of the citizens severely. The corporation must make efforts to set up garbage treatment units and convert garbage into manure, said Thota Pavan, the president of Youth for Swachh Warangal.

The GWMC officials, who were collecting different taxes, including garbage collection tax, from public must develop effective waste management system and stop polluting the city environment, demanded the city Congress working president Rajanala Srihari.

The garbage dumped at Kakatiya Solid Waste Management Park at Rampur on the outskirts of the city was also causing health problems to hundreds of residents in the surrounding villages, he reminded.  A resident of the area D Bikshapathi said that they have given representations to the officials not to dump garbage at Pothana Vignana Petham.

But the GWMC personnel were continuing dumping garbage at the place. If the corporation fails to stop garbage at Pothana Vignana Peetam, serious agitations would be staged by Congress along with the locals, Srihari warned.
