Warangal: The birth anniversary of Maratha warrior king Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj celebrated across Warangal Urban and Rural districts on Monday. Taking part in a programme organised by Aare Kshatriyas in Katakshapur, Minister for Tribal Welfare, Culture and Tourism Azmeera Chandulal, who garlanded the statue of Shivaji Maharaj, hailed him as one of the country’s great warrior. He said that ideals of Shivaji Maharaj should be inculcated among youth.

“Shivaji Maharaj’s immense contribution for the religion and culture should be remembered forever. There is a lot to learn from him especially leadership qualities and administrative ability towards the welfare of the poor and downtrodden,” Chandulal said.

On the occasion, the members of Aare Kula Sankshema Sangham (AKSS) of Warangal Rural district submitted a memorandum to the Minister to include their caste into ‘Other Backward Classes’ (OBC).
Currently, the Aare caste is in the BC ‘D’ (serial number 34) category in the State Backward Classes list. Against this backdrop, the Aare community people submitted a memorandum to Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, urging him to include their caste in the OBC category in 2015.

Responding over this, the CM directed the BC Welfare Minister Jogu Ramanna and BC Welfare Principal Secretary to recommend the same to the Member of Secretary BC Commission, Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India. Following which, the OBC Commission had conducted an enquiry, however, since then the issue has been pending.

Referring these facts to Chandulal, the AKSS members urged him to pursue the matter. The community members also appealed to the Minister to work for the establishment of a corporation for their caste, besides organising Shivaji Maharaj jayanti officially. Their other demands include construction of Chhatrapati Bhavan in Hyderabad by allotting one acre land and political development of the caste.

Aare caste State leader Nagurla Venkateswarlu, Mulugu Market Committee chairman A Prahlad, S Anjan Rao, S Yuvaraju, Kuduthala Ramesh, E Naresh, T Kishan Rao, TRS leaders Palepu Srinivas, D Buchi Reddy, K Mohan Reddy and Mekala Prashanth were among others present.
