Hanamkonda: The Telangana State Renewable Energy Development Corporation (TSREDC) has launched a campaign promoting use of LED lamps.

She said the LED bulbs were much more energy and luminous efficient in comparison to the compact fluorescent lamp (CFL) bulbs and fluorescent tubes and gives good lighting. However, the public were not keen to buy them due to their higher price in the market.

In order to address the problem, the State government has decided to distribute the LED bulbs of Philips Company at subsidised rates to the public. The TSREDC was offering 9 watts LED bulbs at Rs 65 though their market price was Rs 130, Haritha informed.

The mobile sales van would tour all the residential areas in the city and hence the citizens should make use of the opportunity and buy the bulbs. It was being planned to distribute the LED bulbs through ration shops. At present about 21, 580 bulbs were available.

Those interested to purchase the bulbs could contact the TSREDC officials at - 77998805856, 8639189346 and 9398805856, the in-charge Collector informed.

District revenue officer Hari Singh, corporation district manager Ramana Murthy, DPRO M Kiranmayee and others were present.
