Dy CM directs NHAI, R&B officials to expedite road works
Warangal: Deputy Chief Minister K Srihari directed the officials of National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) and R&B Department to expedite works related to construction of roads and bridges in the erstwhile Warangal district.
The Deputy Chief Minister chaired a meeting here on Tuesday and reviewed the progress of works undertaken by the NHAI, road and buildings department. He expressed serious concern over the delay in the execution of works and directed the officials to procure additional equipment and manpower to speed up the works.
Referring to the progress of works of National Highway 163, Rayagiri to Arepalli stretch covering 99 kilometres, he said the work execution was not on expected lines. The officials should direct the contractors to increase the pace of works, he added.
The officials need to complete 29 kilometres by-pass road connecting Warangal ring road by February 2019. Survey related to NH 563 should be completed immediately and a detailed project report should be prepared. The Deputy Chief Minister asked the officials to invite work tenders within 45 days. He said of the proposed 209 works worth Rs 1,690 crore, only 146 works worth Rs 1,457 crore were grounded so far. He wanted 13 kilometres road development works in Warangal city and works of railway over bridges at 15 different places in the district completed at the earliest.
Warangal MP P Dayakar and Mahbubabad MP A Seetaram Naik said that the State government was giving utmost importance to the development of road network in the State. They wanted the officials to make extra efforts towards speedy completion of works.
Warangal Urban District In-charge Collector S Dayanand, the NHAI chief engineer Ganapathi Reddy, its regional officer Krishna Prasad, R&B chief engineer Sathish Kumar, its superintendent engineer Satyanarayana and others were present.
