CM drawing mileage by targeting Cong: Ramana Reddy
Warangal: Former chief whip G Venkata Ramana Reddy stated that Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao’s verbal attack against the Congress was an indication of his frustration over the Telangana Rashtra Samithi’s (TRS) prospects in the next election. The Chief Minister was trying to draw mileage by targeting the Congress. The Chief Minister was getting benefit from the Statehood status accorded to Telangana, though the UPA regime did so for the sake of people in the State, the Congress leader said.
Speaking to the media here on Wednesday, Ramana Reddy asked the Chief Minister to stop spreading false propaganda against the Congress. Referencing to the Chief Minister’s outburst against the Opposition during his recent meetings, Ramana Reddy asked him to abstain from using foul language against the Opposition.
The Chief Minister should not think that he has a right to throw invectives at anybody and should remember that the Opposition would also be prompted to do the same, he said.
Dismissing the Chief Minister’s allegation that the Congress did nothing for Telangana, Ramana Reddy said irrigation projects like Nagarjunasagar, SRSP, Devadula and LMD, power projects like NTPC, KTPC, KTPP and others were constructed by the Congress.
“What Chandrashekar Rao is doing was redesigning the irrigation projects designed by the Congress government and that he did only to benefit his party men and not for the benefit of the State,” Ramana Reddy said. Ramana Reddy also said that it was the Congress party that introduced RTI Act, MGNREGS, Food Security Act, RTE Act, Land Ceiling Act and many others for the benefit of the common people.
The Chief Minister failed to deliver a single promise he made during 2014 elections, had he delivered those promises then he would not have been desperate, he said. In the past four years, nearly 11,000 farmers committed suicide and neither the Chief Minister nor his party men visited their families, he added.
Though failed to ensure MSP to agriculture produce, the Chief Minister was now making promises to support farmers with Farmer Coordination Committees which were nothing but rehabilitation centres for TRS workers. The farmers are upset with the TRS regime and are waiting to teach TRS a fitting lesson, Ramana Reddy stated.
Compensatory employment, stopping open cast mining, Rs 10 lakh interest free loan promised to SCCL employees were yet to be delivered. The people were annoyed with both the TRS and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) that made lives burdensome, he said.
Ramana Reddy objected that the SCCL management’s decision to give holiday to company workers to attend the Chief Minister’s meetings was a wrong decision and bad practice which would have great financial implications, he added. Former MLA P Veeraiah, city Congress working president Rajanala Srihari and others were present.
