Hanamkonda: Residents of Krishna Nagar staged a protest demanding the authorities not to allow wine shop in their colony in Hanamkonda on Wednesday. The residents alleged that efforts were on to set up a wine shop near a petrol bunk located very near to their colony.

They urged the Prohibition and Excise Commissioner, Hyderabad, to stop the opening of liquor shop in a place where a school, Saibaba temple and a masjid were located. The liquor outlet is likely to cause inconvenience to women and children living in the surroundings of petrol bunk.

The residents also lodged a complaint with the Warangal Urban District Collector and Municipal Commissioner. Traffic came to a grinding halt due to residents’ protest on the Peddammagadda bypass road.
