Women rising to the occasion: CP

Hanamkonda: It is time for the womankind to herald to world that they have arrived, the Commissioner of Police G Sudheer Babu said, flagging off the 2-K Run organised by the Warangal Police Commissionerate here on Thursday, in commemoration of International Women’s Day.

“The women are doing exceptionally well in every field and their role is no less in nation’s development,” he said. Though women work and earn equally with the men, they have a second job – looking after the family besides raising children, the Commissioner said, stating that no one can compensate that duty.

The police department is also doing its bit to the women by ensuring safety and security, Sudheer Babu said, referring to their initiatives such as She Teams and Swashakti that create a sense of confidence among the girl students and women. 

It may be mentioned here that Swashakti, a programme aimed at making women and college girls more self-reliant by imparting a few self-defence techniques. He said that through Swashakti programme they have trained over 32,000 girl students and working women in self-defence.

The Commissioner distributed cash awards to top three girls who participated in the 2K Run between Police Headquarters and Kaloji Centre. Rajeshwari, Usha Rani and Kalyani were given a cash reward of Rs 5,000, Rs 3,000 and Rs 2,000 respectively.

DCPs B Venkat Reddy (Central Zone), M Malla Reddy (West Zone) and R Venkateshwarlu (East Zone), Additional DCP D Muralidhar, ACPs G Rajendra Prasad, R Prabhakar Rao, K Satyanarayana, P Shobhan Kumar, A Madhusudhan, B Janardhan, G Vidyasagar, V Srinivas, B Sadanandam and scores of girls were present.
