Congress leader demands probe into KU Ph D admissions

Update: 2018-03-13 06:40 IST

Hanamkonda: The district Congress president N Rajender Reddy demanded the State government to set up a five-man committee to probe into the recent Ph D admissions process at Kakatiya University.

He alleged that the university authorities have failed to follow the guidelines in offering admissions to the aspiring students. In the recent admission process, the authorities have followed 2016-17 guidelines, causing many students to lose the chance to get admissions.

Speaking to presspersons here on Monday, he complained that despite several agitations by the student organisations, the University Vice-Chancellor Prof R Sayanna and Registrar Prof K Purushotham have remained indifferent and failed to address the concerns of protesting students.

On the other hand, unwarranted interference of leaders of the ruling party has been weakening the university education system in Telangana. MLAs D Vinay Bhaskar and Aroori Ramesh held talks with the V-C and Registrar to ensure seats to their party cadre, Rajender Reddy said.

Deputy Chief Minister K Srihari, who holds education portfolio, also remained aloof whereas he should have looked into the issue and taken remedial measures. The Deputy CM should take responsibility for the unrest on the university and come out with details of PhD admissions, he demanded. City Congress president K Srinivas Rao, NSUI KU in-charge A Karthik and others were present.
