Congress MLAs expulsion, suspension to be taken to Prez's notice: Ponnala
Hanamkonda: Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) would take the issue of expulsion and suspension of the party legislators to the notice of the President Ramnath Kovind, stated the TPCC former chief Ponnala Lakshmaiah.
Strongly condemning the expulsion of MLAs K Venkat Reddy and SA Sampath Kumar and suspension of 11 others for the entire budget session of the Assembly, he said the action reflects the Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao’s feeling of insecurity.
Speaking to presspersons in Hanamkonda on Wednesday, Lakshmaiah said the Legislative Council Chairman K Swamy Goud was compelled to fake the eye injury. The entire drama was staged deliberately at the behest of the CM, who wanted the Opposition out of the House during the Assembly session.
Reiterating the party stand on the issue, he noted that Swamy Goud and Assembly Speaker S Madhusudhana Chary were both seen giving send-off to the Governor ESL Narasimhan after the joint session.
But minutes later, Swamy Goud was taken to a hospital on a wheelchair opening the drama. It was meant to prevent the Opposition leaders from questioning the government on the floor of the Assembly and it was totally undemocratic, he pointed out.
He wanted the Council Chairman examined by a team of independent doctors to ascertain the facts. The video footage of the entire session must be examined whether Swamy Goud really injured or not.
The Congress leader further noted that the CM has failed on all fronts and many promises he made to the people have remained unfulfilled. The farmers, unemployed and other sections in the State were all disappointed with the TRS government; the CM doesn’t want it discussed.
Fictitious statistics were being spread by the government on achieving record crop output in the State, even though a reality check contradicts such claims, he said while reminding that the TRS government has got an evil reputation of hand-cuffing farmers for demanding MSP to their farm produce.
The public were waiting for an opportunity to teach a lesson in the Assembly elections to the ruling TRS and to end Chandrashekar Rao’s autocratic rule, Lakshmaiah averred.
District Congress president N Rajender Reddy, ex-MLA P Veeraiah, TPCC general secretary N Srinivas, its secretaries EV Srinivas Rao and B Srinivas Rao were present.
