Kamalamma will forever remain an inspiration to CPI, says K Narayana

Warangal: Telangana Liberation Struggle fighter and the CPI veteran leader late Chennaboina  Kamalamma would remain forever an inspiration for the party, said the party national secretary K Narayana.  

The party on Thursday organised a memorial meeting at Pochamma Maidan area in Warangal in the honour of the veteran leader. He along with the CPI state secretary Ch Venkat Reddy and other senior leaders has offered rich tributes to Kamalamma, who passed away recently.

 The Telangana Armed Struggle that took place after the Indian Independence was a historic fight against the Razakars of Nizam’s of erstwhile Hyderabad State. Kamalamma joined the struggle at the age of 15 along with her husband Mukundam alias Appanna was an epitome of sacrifice.

She continued to fight for justice for downtrodden and suppressed sections even after Telangana Liberation while serving as secretary of the CPI Mahila Samakhya for a long period. But the equitable society which she dreamt of was not achieved, Narayana noted.

Even after achieving statehood to Telangana region, suppression and violation of rights of the people fighting for their just rights was continuing in the bourgeois and autocratic rule of the TRS government, he complained.
The CPI national secretary called upon the party ranks to draw inspiration from Kamalamma, continuing her ideals in building up mass agitations for protecting the rights of the people across the state and to achieve the objectives for which separate Telangana struggle took place.

The accounts of her life were recorded by Russian Central Library and German National Library. A lesson on her struggle for Hyderabad liberation has been included in eighth standard social sciences text book, these would speak volumes about Kamalamma’s contribution to the society, Venkat Reddy said.

The CPI central committee member Mallu Swarajyam, the party Mahila Samakhya national president Annie Raja, leaders V Ramnarsimha Rao, T Srinivasa Rao, T Venkatramulu, Nedunuri Jyothi, K Pratap Reddy, S Karunakar, writer A Rajitha CPM leader S Vasudeva Reddy, Forward Bloc leader P Ranga Rao and others also paid homage to Kamalamma.
