Speedy justice sought for SC, STs

Sircilla: The onus is on the officials concerned to ensure speedy justice to the victims, District Collector Krishna Bhaskar said, referring to the Scheduled Castes and Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act cases. 

Speaking at the district-level vigilance and monitoring committee meeting held here on Tuesday, the Collector told the officials to conduct Civil Rights Day in all Dalit and tribal colonies on 30th of every month to create awareness about the provisions of Atrocity Act.

He said that there will not be any delay in payment of ex-gratia to the victims in the atrocities cases. Stating that there are 20 atrocity cases pending in the district by February-end, Krishna Bhaskar directed the police department to speed up investigation so as to render justice to the victims.

He directed the SC development officer Rajeshwari to submit a detailed report about the progress  of cases before the next month meeting. Krishan Bhaskar said that the administration has identified 424 acres and after acquiring it will be distributed to 164 dalit beneficiaries. 

So far, the administration has distributed 383 acres under the scheme, he added. Superintendent of Police Rahul Hegde and DRO Shyam Prasad Lal were among others present.
