Koilkonda mandal fails to meet target
Mahbubnagar: Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee scheme (MGNREGA) scheme is not being implemented properly in Koilkonda mandal. The officials concerned have not even achieved 10 per cent of target under the MGNREGA.
While holding a review of works in various villages under Koilkonda mandal, Venakata Upender Reddy, Project Director of District Rural Development Authority (DRDA) Mahbubnagar, expressed his displeasure against the lethargic attitude of the Field Assistants and Technical Assistants.
The Project Director pulled up the TAs, FAs and other officials concerned with the implementation of MGNREGA and warned them of severe action. He directed the officials to ensure that all the job cardholders in the mandal get 100 days works.
He warned the officials that the district administration would sack all of them if they failed to rise to the occasion.
At present Koilkona mandal has 9,503 job cardholders of them only 471 workers have been given 100 days of works and overall not even 10 per cent of works were carried in the mandal.
The PD said it is the responsibility of the TAs, and FAs to ensure all the job cardholders get 100 days works. He also said now the government had enhanced an amount of Rs. 9 per each worker per day and every day each worker can earn Rs 205 as daily wage under the MGNREGA. This information should be spread among the workers and rope in as many workers as possible to take part in the MGNREGA works.
“We have directed the TAs and FAs to meet the target under MGNREGA works during this summer season. The works will begin early in the morning from 7 am onwards and end in the afternoon at 12 pm. Strict instructions have been given to the FAs if they achieve the targets that it is fine and good and if not, they are clearly told to give way to others,” said he DRDA PD.
The PD directed all the village panchayat secretaries in Koilkonda mandal to prepare an action plan for the upcoming Haritha Haaram programme and utilise the services of MGNREGA workers to dig the necessary pits for planting the plant saplings.
