Special focus on SC/ST development: Dy CM Srihari

Hanamkonda: The State government has been laying special focus on the development of SC/ST communities, said Deputy Chief Minister K Srihari.He wanted the district collectors and officials concerned to make committed efforts in implementing the schemes designed for the welfare of the communities. The selection of beneficiaries has to be done in a transparent manner without any scope for irregularities.

The Deputy CM on Monday chaired a meeting to review the implementation of economic support schemes in Warangal Urban and Rural districts and arrangements for the ensuing Ambedkar jayanti celebrations, at Warangal Rural collectorate in Hanamkonda.

Speaking on the occasion, he informed that this year an amount of Rs 1,500 crore was allocated for self-employment creation under different schemes. While sanctioning the self-employment units, priority should be given to major units that could create more employment.

Officials should ensure 100 per cent grounding of all the self-employment units sanctioned for the year 2017-18. Similarly, field inspections have to be conducted to monitor the units grounded in the year 2016-17, Srihari suggested.

He directed the officials to conduct a special drive to reach the targets set for 2016-17 and 2017-18 by May 15 in Warangal Urban district and under Greater Warangal Municipal Corporation limits. Steps for speedy opening of accounts and crediting of subsidy amount have to be taken.

Similarly, the Deputy CM asked the officials to expedite the process of distributing three acres agriculture land to landless dalits under land purchase scheme. He also asked for a report on junior, degree and post graduate colleges in Warangal Urban and number of students studying there.

Srihari told the Warangal Rural district administration to identify lands for the construction of SC/ST/BC and minority degree colleges sanctioned for the district. Funds would be released soon after land identification was done.

Referring to celebrations to commemorate the birthday of Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar scheduled on April 14, Srihari asked the district administrations to organise large scale programmes at the district headquarters.Warangal Urban and Rural district collectors Amrapali Kata and M Haritha, Rajya Sabha members Banda Prakash were present.
