Warangal: Power Finance Corporation (PFC) Limited, a union government undertaking, has come forward to finance solar powered LED street lighting system in Narsampet assembly constituency.

The PFC has agreed to finance the project under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and sustainable development initiative following a request by Mahabubabad MP A Seetaram Naik.

The corporation would be spending around Rs 1.70 crore in setting up solar street lights at all villages in the constituency. It includes solar high mast lights. About 75 units of 4 amps solar lighting systems and 400 single solar LED lamps would be erected all over the constituency, the MP said here on Friday.

He informed that the representatives of PFC have signed an agreement with a solar power solutions company in Hyderabad recently. Utilising solar energy would be helpful in reducing electricity bills and to reduce environmental pollution.

Seetaram Naik appealed the public to make use of central government’s Ujala scheme under which LED bulbs were being supplied at subsidised rates. Similarly, the Telangana State Renewable Energy Development Corporation (TSREDC) has been promoting use of LED lamps and offering the lamps at subsidised rates, he said.

He further informed that a camp for screening physically challenged persons was organised at Narsampet a few weeks ago to identify the beneficiaries for providing different tools to support them. Rs 44 lakh worth accessories were sanctioned and they would soon be handed over to the beneficiaries.

Senior TRS leader in the constituency and TS Civil Supplies Corporation Chairman P Sudharshan Reddy expressed pleasure at the sanctioning of solar street lighting system and accessories for physically challenged and thanked the MP for his initiative in this regard.
