TJS activists stage protest at Jangaon
Jangaon: Tension prevailed for some time at the district collectorate here on Monday as a large number of activists of Telangana Jana Samithi (TJS) staged a protest seeking construction of houses for poorer sections.
A large group of TJS activists and the residents of 25th ward of local municipality have arrived at the collectorate to submit a memorandum to the District Collector, T Vinay Krishna Reddy. But the police prevented them from entering into the office premises.
Following which, the activists led by the TJS leader Akula Sathish staged demonstration outside the collectorate shouting slogans and demanding the Collector to come out to receive their memorandum. The police tried to control the protestors during which they jostled with each other leading to tense moments.
The police, however, overpowered the protestors and taken Sathish and many others into their custody and taken them to Jangaon town police station. Speaking to the press, TJS leader Sathish and others complained that in the year 2013, the then government has allotted house plots to poorer sections in 25th ward and surrounding areas for construction of houses under Indiramma Housing Scheme.
But since then there was no progress in the construction of houses. Several petitions submitted to the officials concerned yielded no result. The residents wanted to take the matter to the notice of the District Collector, they said while condemning the action of the police.
