Govt to fulfil Gandhi’s dream: MP Vinod Kumar

Karimnagar: The State government was striving hard for strengthening the Panchayati Raj system, stated Karimnagar MP Boinapally Vinod Kumar. He was the chief guest at National Panchayati Raj day programme held here on Tuesday.

Speaking on the occasion, the MP said Mahatma Gandhi dreamed of Grama Swarajyam in the early days of Independence and in accordance with his dream, Dr BR Ambedkar framed the Indian Constitution, giving much importance to Panchayati Raj system.

To fulfill the dreams of Gandhiji, the State government introduced new Panchayati Raj Act for strengthening it. The bill was passed in the Assembly. As per the new Act, the officials of 17 departments must participate in Gram Sabha, which must be held once in two months for strengthening the villages.

China is the only country in the world, which is striving hard to bring reforms in Panchayati Raj system and to give more powers to villages, since, the villages are considered as the pillars of a country. Next to China, it is Telangana State, which is giving importance to villages and striving hard for strengthening them.

On the occasion of National Panchayati Raj day, MP Vinod Kumar presented awards to those villages that have participated actively in various developmental activities such as implementation of Swachh Bharat, Haritha Haram and collection of house tax.

District Collector Sarfaraz Ahmed, MLA Gangula Kamalakar, District Rural Development Officer Venkateshwar Rao, ZP CEO Padmaja Rani, DPO Narayana Rao, RDO Raja Goud, Libraries Chairman Ravinder Reddy and MPP V Ramesh were present.
