Kisan Kalyan Karyashala aims to double farmer’s income
Sircilla: An awareness programme was conducted for the officials of agriculture department on the new initiation of the Central government - Kisan Kalyan Karyashala - for the welfare of the farmers and to raise their income.
The meeting was held at Podupu Bhavan here on Wednesday under the leadership of Agriculture Technology Management Agency (ATMA) Project Director R Anil Kumar.
Speaking on the occasion, Anil Kumar said that to ensure food stock and agriculture productivity along with all-round development in agriculture sector, the Central government is implementing the multi-dimensional strategy to double the farmers’ income by 2022 through the new scheme - Kisan Kalyan Karyashala (KKK).
The scheme will provide an opportunity to farmers to discuss several methods to increase their income by using new technology along with conducting awareness programmes with agriculture officials, scientists and progressive farmers.
The Central government is going to implement new strategy for the holistic development of farmers through special emphasis on irrigation, providing high quality seeds and nutrients, large investments in establishing of warehouses, introducing of crop insurance scheme at a lower cost along with establishing National Agriculture Markets and e-platforms (e-NAM).
The main intention of the government was to make agriculture policy income dependent rather than product dependent and promotion of allied activities such as dairy animal husbandry, poultry, bee-keeping, horticulture and fisheries through the scheme.
District Agriculture Officer K Thirupathi, District Horticulture Officer Rajendra Krishna, ATMA Chairman Lakshma Reddy, Agriculture Scientists Dr R Satish, Dr Anji Reddy, BTM, ATMA Md Rawoos and Agriculture Officer CH Bhumi Reddy were present.
