Hanamkonda: The State government should be held responsible for suicides by unemployed youth in Telangana, stated the leaders of Telangana Vidyarthi Sena (TVS).

The TVS activists have staged a dharna at Ambedkar Circle in Hanamkonda on Monday, protesting the government’s failure to release job notifications. The delay issuing employment notifications is taking a toll on the lives of unemployed in the State, they complained.

Referring to the alleged suicide by Osmania University student, Venkata Ramana of Kandigatla village in Suryapet district, the TVS founder-president T Sheshu demanded that the government should take the responsibility for his death.

It was sad that the government’s indifferent attitude has claimed the valuable life a highly qualified graduate. The deceased, who was waiting for junior lecturer and other job notifications, was depressed at the dilly dallying of the government in issuing the notification and took his own life, he lamented.

The TRS government has promised to offer jobs to all unemployed after it assumed power, but miserably failed to keep the promise, he said, adding that during the last four years over 10 graduates have committed suicide. ‘Is this the TRS’s Golden Telangana?’ he posed.

As per the government statistics, there were nearly 1.10 lakh job vacancies in various government departments. The finance department granted approval for filling up 84,000 jobs and only 28,000 filled up so far, Sheshu said. TJAC leaders M Kodandaram and other youth and student organisations have been demanding the government to speed up the process of recruitment, but in vain.

On the other hand, the government suppressed protests in support of the demand, by using police force, he alleged. Sheshu, TVS state president Kalluri Pavan, its leaders P Surender, D Sathish, D Srinivas and others have demanded the government to release of job notifications immediately.

TVS activists Y Srikanth, B Daniel, G Ashok, Y Ramesh and others were took part in the protest.
