TRS workers at a loss

Bhupalpally: A strange tussle has been taking place between the ruling party MLAs over TRS ticket for contesting from Bhupalpally Assembly constituency in next elections.

The constituency is now represented by Assembly Speaker S Madhusudhana Chary. But the TRS MLA from Warangal East constituency Konda Surekha and her husband, MLC Konda Muralidhar Rao are for some time pulling strings to claim the ticket for their daughter Sushmita Patel.

This has been leading to confusion in the party workers in the constituency and they want the party high command to take measures to address the issue before it goes beyond control. But no such step is taken yet by the party leadership.

The Konda couple, on the other hand, is frequenting the villages in the constituency and conducting various programmes involving their daughter laying a wager on the ticket. In addition to that, youth bodies like Konda Yuva Sena and Chittakka (Sushmita’s pet name) Yuva Sena were launched to garner support for the future leader.

Moreover, a video song has been produced and is being posted on social media platforms in a bid to reach out to the public and spreading the message that Sushmita will contest for Bhupalpally seat. All these have been irking the followers of the Speaker; nonetheless none have publicly expressed any dissent thus far.

The height of the ongoing campaign work in favour of Sushmita’s political entry is the recent comments by MLA Surekha, who during a meeting at Bhupalpally commented that there has been a resentment among the public in the constituency against the sitting MLA, that is the Speaker.

Even the public in the constituency is also wishing Sushmita to contest from Bhupalpally, Surekha said adding ‘In case the party high command wants to give the ticket to a candidate other than the sitting MLA, Sushmita will definitely be in the race’.

Meanwhile, the party mandal unit presidents in seven mandals of the constituency have extended support to the Speaker and condemned Surekha’s comments. “It will be better is Surekha confines herself to her constituency instead of interfering in Bhupalpally affairs,” party leader K Ravinder Reddy stated.

The Speaker disputed Konda Surekha’s claims on public dissent against him and their effort to get Bhupalpally Assembly ticket. When contacted by The Hans India on Tuesday, he said ‘The issue of giving ticket is in the hands of the party high command and I am not worried over what the others speak’

The bottom line is, rumours are abuzz in the district TRS circles that the Konda couple is also lobbying for Narsampet Assembly ticket to field their own candidate there in the next Assembly elections.
