Warangal: Get ready outdoor enthusiasts, who are seeking refuge in the forests, you will soon have a new hideout to bask. Surprised to listen to jungle camping in this part of the world, where forest cover is sparse compared to other parts of the erstwhile Warangal district?

It’s going to be true in about a fortnight. The erstwhile Warangal district, hitherto, was a treasure trove of forests, laidback destinations and ancient temples. Even though it has lost toast of its tourist points after the split of the district, Warangal Urban is still left with some exhilarating locations such as beautiful Dharmasagar Lake and its hilly forest neighbourhood known as Inuparathigatlu, in addition to the city-centric heritage sites – Warangal Fort, 1000 Pillars, Bhadrakali and Padmakshi temples. Since the Urban Collector Amrapali Kata had visited this location a few months ago, a plan is on the anvil to promote tourism activity in the 1,500-odd hectares of reserve forest, combining it with Dharmasagar Lake and Trikuta temple at Mupparam, all within a distance of 20 kms from the city.

Against this backdrop, the district administration in association with Tourism Department has decided to project these locations phase-wise to attract tourists. To start with, the authorities mooted a jungle camping tour in the reserve forest hillocks of Inuparathigatlu adding some spice – trekking, cycling, campfire etc.

It would be much like the one Bhupalpally Forest Department’s Ecotourism Calendar which offers a host of activity including adventure sports in the thickets of Tadvai and Laknavaram Lake.
It’s learnt that the administration has decided to procure 20 waterproof and heat resistant tents initially and to add more based on the public patronage to the night camping.

The tourists will be offered Telangana ethnic food such as sarva pindi, pancake made of rice flour, lentil and spices, besides other varieties. Sharing information with The Hans India, the District Tourism Officer M Shivaji said that they have plans to offer an expedition package that includes trekking and cycling in the reserve forest, and night camping tent stay on the banks of Dharmasagar Lake.” Later on, we will add adventure sports to the one-day tour, he added.

However, the authorities are yet to disclose the price of the package, which includes tenting accommodation, food, trekking, cycling etc. it’s learnt that it is likely to cost Rs 1,000 per each person. The tourism department will also provide a guide besides taking care of the safety and security of the visitors. According to Aravind Arya Pakide, a tourism enthusiast and consultant, the night camping facility would add more colour to the district tourism plans.
