Minor, youth drown in Bogatha waterfalls

Warangal: A minor and a youth have drowned in Bogatha waterfalls in the district on Thursday. The deceased belonging to Bhavani Nagar area in Hanamkonda, have visited the waterfalsl in Wajedu mandal of Jayashankar Bhupalapalli district along with their family members, the police said. The deceased were identified as Rapolu Harshith Reddy (11) and Esarapu Satish (34).

Harshith Reddy was sixth standard student and Satish works at a boutique run by Harshith’s family. They were part of a 12-member team of tourists from Hanamkonda that visited the waterfalls on the day. 

According to the police, the incident occurred when the deceased duo along with three other tourists entered the waters at the falls for a swim. They were said to be sitting on a stone where waters were deep. They slipped into deep waters and unable to keep themselves afloat.

The onlookers, who found them struggling to stay afloat, immediately alerted the rescue teams and security personnel present there. The rescue team personnel jumped into water but were able to save only three.  The bodies were fished out and handed over to family members after post-mortem.

The local police booked a case and launched investigation into the incident. It was said those visiting the waterfalls were being warned about the danger of drowning if venture into deep waters, but they were paying attention such warnings and killing themselves.
