Red Cross offers insurance for blood donors
Hanamkonda: The Red Cross Society branch of Warangal Urban district has come up with a gesture to offer Rs 1 lakh insurance policy to those donated blood.
Dr P Vijaychander Reddy, the Chairman of Warangal edition, said that they have been offering Rs 1 lakh policy free of cost that covers accidental death of the donors for a period of one year from the date of blood donation. “It’s not a gesture but our duty to respect those donate blood to save other people’s lives,” he said.
He along with other committee members on Wednesday gave away a cheque for Rs 1 lakh to Deepika, wife of Renukuntla Naveen who died of electrocution on February 19, 2018. Naveen who belonged to Jayagiri village donated his blood at a camp organised by Bala Vikas, a NGO, on March 17, 2017.
Society treasurer M Nagaiah, State managing committee members EV Srinivasa Rao, Potlapalli Srinivasa Rao, Bommineni Papi Reddy, Dr T Vijaya Laxmi, M Ravinder Rao and Dr S Ramkishan were among others present.
