Warangal: The Unity Centre of Communist Revolutionaries of India (Marxist-Leninist) UCCRI (ML) leaders have demanded immediate release of Telangana Democratic Front (TDF) leader Bandi Durga Prasad, who was arrested in Hyderabad on Sunday.

UCCRI (ML) secretary G Kishan and Democratic Students Organisation state secretary J Upender in a statement here on Monday said that the TDF leader Prasad, who works for a vernacular daily in Warangal, was illegally arrested by special taskforce police at Musarambagh in the State capital.

Condemning his arrest, the Unity Centre leaders wanted the police to produce the TDF activist before the court. They also wanted release of student leaders Badri, Sadeer and Ranjith, who were arrested by police last week.

It was wrong to arrest the activists working for democratic rights of people in violation of their rights. The public should oppose illegal arrests of rights activists, appealed Kishan and Upender.
