Warangal: The leader of Revolutionary Writers Association Varavara Rao objected lodging of some student activists under judicial remand in single cell barracks at Warangal Central Prison.

Speaking to the press here on Thursday, he complained that the Democratic Student Union (DSU) activists Kancharla Bhadraiah, M Ranjit Kumar and G Sudheer and Progressive Democratic Front (PDF) activist D Durgaprasad were lodged in single cell barracks in the prison.

He said the activists were first lodged in the district jail in Khammam after their arrest in June and were shifted to the Warangal Central Prison a couple of days ago. He demanded that the State government consider that the DSU and PDF activists were fighting for people’s cause as political prisoners and asked it not to torment them by confining them to single cell.

Varvara Rao wanted that the government and the jail authorities to consider them as political prisoners and allow them to enjoy the rights of a political prisoner. He warned that they would stage a dharna, if the government failed to address their demand. The association activists M Ramaswamy, Ramesh Chander and Sudarshan were present.
