Hanamkonda Congress cadres told to gear up for 2019 polls
Hanamkonda (Warangal-U): Gearing up for the next year’s general elections, the Congress district functionaries decided to meet on July 17 at the party office. District Congress Committee president Naini Rajender Reddy said that they had drawn plans to expose the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) government’s misdeeds and failures.
“The time has come for the Congress cadres to reach out the people and reveal the failures of the TRS government, which comfortably forgotten the promises it made during the 2014 elections,” Reddy said.
Both the State and the Central governments have betrayed the people, he alleged, accusing them of resorting to anti-people policies. He said that it is time for the party cadres to gird up their loins and make the people teach a fitting lesson to the TRS government.
He called upon cadres to get acquaint with the mobile phone-based Shakti app meant to establish a direct connection between the party workers at grassroot level and party’s Central leadership. The activists can get to know the party’s activities through the app, he added.
Reddy said that had made an effort to groom Dalit leaders in the 31 SC and ST Assembly constituencies under Leadership Development Mission in Reserved Constituencies (LDMRC) programme. The LDMRC programme has proved successful in Punjab, he said, referring to the party’s success in that State.
“Srinvasan Krishnan, one of the three All India Congress Committee (AICC) secretaries appointed to assist the in-charge Secretary for Telangana affairs R C Khuntia in reviving the party’s fortunes in the next elections, will hold a meeting with the party activists,” Reddy said.
It is learnt that Srinivasan Krishnan spoke to all the prominent leaders and constituency in-charges to elicit information from them and he will also have one-on-one meeting with the leaders. The leaders observed a two-minute silence as mark of respect to Koppu Sharath, who was shot dead by an unknown person in Kansas, US recently.
Greater Warangal president Katla Srinivas Rao, Telangana Rashtra Samithui (TPCC) general secretary Namindla Srinivas, TPCC secretaries B Srinivas Rao and EV Srinivas Rao, district spokesperson K Sekhar, N Laxma Reddy, B Sampath Yadav, S Dhanraj, A Kartheek and K Ganesh were among others present.
