GWMC staff stage protest
Warangal: A large number of engineering staff of GWMC have expressed serious dissent over the incident wherein a municipal councillor of Zaheerabad Municipality insulted an engineer using abusive language.
It was said that an Assistant Engineer L Anvesh Reddy, serving at Zaheerabad Municipality, was allegedly subjected to verbal abuse by ward no 11 councillor Ramulu. The information was posted on various social media platforms and the said engineer expressing fear to work at the municipality.
Responding to his plight, the Greater Warangal Municipal Corporation (GWMC) engineering staff and the JAC members have staged demonstration of on Monday at the corporation head office in Warangal.
Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Engineer Sanjay and others have condemned the incident and warned that such incidents would not be tolerated. They demanded the government taking immediate measures to prevent such incidents happening again in future.
The protestors noted that it was sad that official working for public was targeted by elected members even though the government has been laying stress on employee-friendly governance. Both the employees and elected representatives have to work in coordination and none should hurt the sentiments of the employees, they said.
Municipal health officer B Raja Reddy, Das, Ravinder, Prabhakar, Sanjay, Swaroopa Rani, Pravallika, Varsha Tushar, JAC leaders Golconda Srinivas, Sambaiah and others took part in the protest.
