Having fun at forty
An individual has many roles to play, father, son, brother, husband, son-in-law, brother-in-law, for a man. A mother, daughter, sister, wife, daughter-in-law, for a woman. Life again has many stages, childhood, adolescence, adulthood.
Different ages and stages have a different set of rules to apply. One has to keep changing ones’ 0 two), a Bank employee, “I feel that life begins at forty! A different kind of life, though. People start taking you seriously, begin to pay attention to what you say. By forty, if you are in a high-profile career, you have reached a high point of the promotion ladder and are an achiever of sorts.
Again, you are more balanced and mature, have lesser inhibitions, know what you want out of your life, accept things more gracefully and try to change what is seriously wrong in your life. One also begins to reflect on different issues and do some amount of introspection. When I was twenty, I was full of Mills & Boons ideas, had very fixed views about everything and was very stubborn too. Now I have a wider perspective towards various issues and am very tolerant towards the feelings of other people. Also, I feel that forty is a more liberated age than twenty!”
Well, at forty, one is definitely not so young but more balanced for sure. And that seems to be the high. Aditya Mukherji, (forty-four) a professional running his own company in Hyderabad says, “I personally feel that forty is a new enlightened stage in life! One rises above many inhibitions and is answerable to lesser people too. One understands life better and can take wiser decisions too. At twenty, you don’t know what you want from life. One is confused, impulsive, restless and unsure of himself or herself.
There are several unexplored avenues that one has to find out about, many things that one has to learn about and many aspects of life that one does not know about. All of this and more changes, when you are forty. You can understand things better; you are more liberated, more open to ideas, less inhibited as well as have a broader outlook towards things and have a better perspective in life towards various things.”
It seems that the people of forty years are more happier and sure of themselves than what they were at twenty years of age! Somehow, they are at peace with themselves and are happy with their lives! Twenty is surely a very nice age to be at but then time just moves on……They say time and tide wait for none! Age, experience and maturity, all have its own plus points. So, it would not be wrong to say that Yes, life begins at forty!
