Sporting Success!
Vindhya Vishaka, the young TV anchor has become that first woman to host the Indian Premier League (IPL) in Telugu and has set a precedent for youngsters who want to be a TV presenter/host.
Vindhya, who worked as an anchor on MAA TV, says “I was hosting the Pro Kabaddi League and it was the turning point of my career. It also helped me learn about the game. This was a stepping stone of my profession as I was asked to audition to host IPL in Telugu. My hard work has directed me towards a path to success and I have become the first woman to host IPL in Telugu.”
She states that hosting IPL is challenging. “When I was selected to host IPL, I was excited but still, I lacked the knowledge in cricket and soon took this task as a challenge and started doing some research on the sport – like the techniques used in the game and what are the terms that are used to describe any situation of the game, etc. My friends have been a pillar of support as they taught me a few technical words about the game.”
Talking about her experience being an anchor of the cash-rich league she mentions: “It has been a wonderful experience so far; I get to talk to all these international players and I interview cricketers during pre-match and post-match sessions. It is really exciting and challenging.”
“I personally feel and also encourage a lot of people to choose anchoring as their career option. It is the best time where you get to explore many places and especially explore yourself. You get to be identified which feels really special and also you get to travel around different countries. And this field looks for young and fresh talent all the time.”
Speaking about her future goals Vindhya shares: “I love what I am doing. Being an anchor did give me a great platform to showcase my talent and I wish to continue hosting in sports at the international level. Along with these long time goals, I also run ‘Sveccha Welfare Organisation’, where my team of seven young working professionals and I take part in a few social activities and also conduct awareness programmes that encourages me to do something for the society.”
