Know Your Goals for Key Heart Health Indicators: Know what appropriate goals are for you. What are your goal blood pressure, cholesterol, and glucose levels? These numbers can be different depending on your level of risk. For example, if you have a strong family history of premature heart disease or if you have diabetes, you may have different goals than other women.

Do Your Homework and Be Your Own Heart Health Advocate: Ultimately you will do the best at prevention of heart disease and stroke if you do your “homework” and understand your personal risk for heart disease.

Know the Signs and Symptoms of Heart Disease: Along with knowing your personal risk factors, it is important to know the signs and symptoms of heart disease. Many women think heart disease is a man’s problem. It is not.
