On top of the world
The Indian community living in the United Kingdom was proud on April 15 when one of their compatriots Gullu Kuchhal, a dentist by profession in London, won the prestigious Mrs India UK 2018 in a keenly fought contest in London.
Gullu won the Mrs India UK Classic 2018 in the age group of 37 to 50 years followed by first runner up Navarupa Mukherjee, second runner up Vandana Sharma, third runner up Jatinder Randhawa and fourth runner up Jayshree Thakkar.
Gullu Kucchal, a model and a fitness freak and by profession a dentist, has been living in Sheffeild South Yorkshire along with her husband and 5-year-old daughter. An Indian by birth, she studied in India and has her extended family in India.
Gullu’s father Satyanarain Kuchhal, who is in a senior position in an industry at Hanuman Junction near Vijayawada told The Hans India that Gullu is the powerhouse of incredible strength, determination, honesty and passion towards all her work.
He says that his wife and he have been instrumental in instilling a drive to work for humanity which paved the way for Gullu to join the health care sector. “Alongside due to my job, she was exposed to various cultures, traditions, art forms and most importantly the varied colours of life from a very young age. She learnt the art of expressing and rediscovering oneself through art from her mother,” he adds.
Gullu has a keen interest in performing arts like dance and charcoal sketching which brings out creativity and self-expression. Being a fitness freak, she has successfully transformed herself into an athlete specifically after her pregnancy, the proud father recalls.
Gullu also finds time for various social causes and awareness programmes like the run for pink breast cancer annually. Additionally, she also propagates the need of good oral health care. Smoking and Tobacco cessation can help lot of people avoid oral cancer and Gullu is constantly working towards spreading the message across the globe. Now that Gullu has won the crown she requests people to quit smoking and go beyond boundaries for the cause.
