The winning smile: Abha Jain
Childhood passion became a reality when 43-year-old Abha Jain, who has had an eventful career dabbling in a variety of vocations, decided to take part in Mrs. India Pacific 2018 beauty pageant.
It was an important step for the busy mother, a consulting cosmetologist and owner of a salon as it had been her dream to be in the glamour world. She could not pursue the dream as a youngster. She instead learnt dance, singing, acting, played table tennis and completed her education.
She did her B.Sc, M.A, and B.Ed from Jaipur. She worked as an anchor in Doordarshan Jaipur, was into baking, and between 2007 and 2010, when in the US, she worked with the Multicultural Advisory Committee in Hopkins, Minnesota.
Being a part of the Asia Pacific Pageant 2018 was a dream come true, and more so when she won the title as first runner up and for the ‘Best Smile’. She shares her experience.
What inspired you to participate?
I wanted to be in the glamour world since my childhood, and that did not happen as my parents did not allow me. Post-marriage, my husband never stopped from doing anything and so I could pursue my passion and Mrs India Pacific 2018 happened. My daughter was my biggest inspiration and she has helped me a lot during the competition.
What was the most challenging part of the preparation?
Taking part in Mrs India Pacific 2018 was a good opportunity, but after my pregnancy, I had gained a lot of weight. Losing weight and maintaining my diet was the biggest challenge.
How has been the experience of being in a pageant?
It was an amazing journey from getting selected as a finalist to becoming a winner. I had a great exposure during those three days as I learnt different things such as grooming, fitness, ramp walk, dining manners, etc.
What was your winning question?
During the final round, I was asked - ‘What is your idea about happiness and success?’ And I answered - ‘Success is not a key to happiness, but happiness is the key to success. If you love the task you are doing, then one will definitely succeed in life’.
