Striving for excellence
Jhansi Moorthy, president, Chaitanya Mahila Mandali has been an inspiration and a helping hand for a lot of people in Khammam district. Striving to serve people since 1980 she has set up a bench mark that if you have a zeal to make the best out of what you are then you will develop the passion to help another person.
Elaborating on her work, she says, “There are Anganwadis set up by the government; we as an NGO send in staff to train the teachers in Anganwadi centers. We help marginalised families by providing counselling and providing livelihood.”
Global Achievers Conference is a platform of recognizing achievers. The conference at Uzbekistan had conferred Jhansi Moorthy with an Excellence award for her numerous works that she had contributed for a happy society. “It feels great to receive the award and I wish that our efforts reach out to the maximum number of people in remote areas.”
Since my childhood my father taught me to do service and not expect anything out of it. Being a Dalit, my family has strived so much to make life better. Looking at my father’s struggle in life I have decided to lend my service for the development of the society.
The ambassador of women’s education, her NGO Chaitanya maintains homes to give shelter for the homeless, widows, orphans, victims of sex trade etc, provide them with food and clothes and show them livelihood options.
Till date around the Swadhar home run by the NGO gave support to 677 women, 596 were helped at short stay home and family counselling was provided to around 2260. “I just want to tell people to have positive attitude in life which will lead your way to success,” she states.
