Natural singer Baby basks in glory

The sleepy village of Vadisaleru in Rangampetamandal of East Godavari district has suddenly found itself in the limelight after a singer from the village with a melodious voice made her mark on the social media. Pasala Baby, who is now being hailed as a natural singer, does not have any music background or any knowledge of music. However, with the melody in her voice she proved to be indeed a remarkable singer. Since, one month she has been setting new records in the social media and even secured millions of followers.

Being an agriculture labourer, Pasala Baby cannot read but sings songs in her melodious voice that she learns by just hearing them, which is mesmerising to the audience. Her amazing voice is attracting many a music lover and she is getting calls from many popular personalities congratulating her.

She says, “I do not know about Gamaka, Sruthi, Laya, Prasaetc, which are important to sing a song. I used to sing songs casually during leisure time from childhood. Circumstances did not allow me to go to school because of financial problems.

One month ago, my friend Rani heard my song and uploaded it on YouTube and suddenly there has been a cyclonic storm of likes and shares of the clipping. Many people told me that I have melody in my voice. After hearing my voice, noted music directors Koti, RP Patnaik etc.,congratulated and assured their co-operation to elevate me. Meanwhile, music director Koti invited me to sing in his programme ‘Bol Baby Bol’. 

“Cine director Krishna Vamsi also contacted me and assured cooperation. The HMTV and TV9 channels have given my live telecast from Visakhapatnam. As I am not financially sound, a donor from Kakinada offered to bear my travel expenses to Hyderabad. My husband Vajra Rao is also a farm worker and both my daughters are married. I am using a small ordinary phone.I think God blessed me with good memory power that helps me learn fast. I like to sing melodies and I will continue to sing until my last breath even though I am an illiterate,” she adds.
