Hyderabad one of the safest cities: SHE Teams in-charge Shikha Goel
The ‘Balance for Better’ themed International Women’s Day program organised by psychologist Dr Suman Roy at Sultan Ul Uloom Education Society (SUES) college campus in Hyderabad. “Hyderabad is one of the safest cities in the world, particularly for women,” said ShikhaGoel IPS, ACP (Crimes & SIT) in Hyderabad.
The SHE Teams in-charge said, “Since the formation of SHE Teams in 2014, Bharosa centre, Hawk Eye App, and a network of 2,70,000 cameras across Hyderabad among other security measures have helped the city become a safer place.”
She added that, “Crime rate in Hyderabad has fallen by 40% particularly in murder cases while crimes against women have dipped by 25%”. She said, “An individual moving through the city is recorded in nearly 100 different cameras, assuring the city is growing safer by the day.”
She pointed that, “99% of the eve teasers encounteredby SHE Teams in their operations indulge in eve teasing for funand are notserious offenders. However, sometimes mischief can land boys in trouble, andpermanently blot their career if a case is booked”, she warned.
She said, “Hyderabad is a safe environment for women in both public andprivate places and assured to keep it safe.”
Meanwhile, director - corporate affairs of Jagati Publications Rani Reddysaid, “Today’s world is divided, distracted and distorted, and women only canbring harmony. Women can make sense out of all the non-sense and makelife more balanced”. She stressed on “creating equal opportunities for boy sand girls.”
She said women need to collaborate as leaders, build healthy teams, resolveconflicts and navigate change effectively.
Speaking on the occasion, SUES Secretary Zafar Javeed stressed on women empowerment. He said, “Even in ancient times, women like Jhansi ki Rani, Razia Sultana, Hazrath Mahal, Rudramadevi were examples of women leaders and set example for women about bravery, and empowerment. Today, entire Asian continent has seen extraordinary women leaders including the likes of Indira Gandhi, Benazir Bhutto, etc.”
