ICAI convocation held
Hyderabad: It was a big day for around 1100 students and the delight showed on their faces when they arrived at the spacious auditorium in Srinagar Colony here on Wednesday.
The emotional high typified the convocation that was organised by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India(ICAI). The top rankers were felicitated by men of eminence, including seasoned Chartered Accountants holding prestigious positions. To those who had successfully cleared the CA examinations, the speeches were practical lessons that are bound to hold them in good stead.
Welcoming the ‘newcomers’ into the fold, M Devaraja Reddy, former President of ICAI said they had to strive to uphold the best of practices and integrity as they begin their careers as chartered accountants.
Among other speakers, some of whom recalled their personal experiences and how they braved several odds, were Babu Abraham Kallivayalil, Central Council Member, ICAI, Adusumilli Venkateswara Rao, Vice-Chairman, SIRC, among others. Lok Sabha member Konda Vishweshwar Reddy spoke about the need for students to think out-of-the-box in professions like accountancy, whose importance was more than mere numbers.
Senior bureaucrat Sandeep Kumar Sultania underscored the importance of sticking to ethics as CAs played a pivotal role in nation-building exercises. The students were urged to understand that the fraternity had to deliver professional services of the best standards with focus on credibility, reliability and accountability.
Incidentally, ICAI conducts convocation twice in a year. As for the students so caught with the atmosphere most were that they tried to click selfies with their peers, friends and family members.
