Take MS Subbulakshmi as role model
Hyderabad: Take MS Subbulakshmi as role model, eminent dancer, musician Jyothi Mohan asked the members while addressing as chief guest a lecture on ‘Musings on the magical music of Bharat Ratna MS Subbulakshmi’, at CV Raman Auditorium, here on Thursday.
The Department of Sanskrit Studies, School of Humanities, University of Hyderabad (UoH), in association with Sanskriti foundation, conducted the lecture. Jyothi Mohan, from Mumbai organised the event. BOl Hyderabad, FM 90.4, was the radio partner. Musicians and connoisseurs attended the event which was an enchanting journey into the life of the undisputed queen of carnatic music. The event began with an invocation by Mridula Aswin, research scholar, and welcome address by Prof JSR Prasad, Head, Department of Sanskrit Studies.
Jyothi’s presentation started with a 13 minute documentary of MS Subbulakshmi’s life and music. She then went on to delve into the meteoric rise of a star, sharing not-so-well-known incidents in the early stages of MS’s musical career. The lecture was interspersed with short Audio-Video clippings which brought in a wholesome experience for the audience.
