Workshop on DFM at GITAM in March

Hyderabad: Department of Mechanical Engineering, School of Technology, GITAM deemed to be University, Hyderabad is going to organise a three day workshop on ‘Design for Manufacturability’ (DFM) at its campus from March 8. GITAM, Hyderabad Pro Vice-Chancellor Prof N Siva Prasad said in a statement here on Wednesday. 

The focus of this workshop is to identify the manufacturing constraints that influence the design of parts and sub systems. Participants will be introduced to the Design for Manufacturability (DFM) methodology and will be able to avoid infeasible or impractical designs. The participants will also explore specific aspects of DFM, such as Design for Assembly (DFA), Design for Maintenance, Design for Sustainability, Design for Low Cost, Design for High Quality and Design for Lean Manufacturing.

Participants will also be exposed to principles based on practical examples from industry. Prof N Siva Prasad, Pro VC, GITAM, Prof MS Shunmugam, IITM, Prof  AS Seshadri Sekhar, IITM and Hari Adavalli, Technical Chief & Head – Emerging Accounts Cyient Limited are the faculty for the workshop.For registration, contact 08455 – 221 383 or hodmech_hydcampus@gitam.edu.
