Promote mother tongue, Venkaiah tells students
Chennai Vice-President Venkaiah Naidu advised students to remember and follow teachings of their teachers and promote use of their respective mother tongues.
He was addressing gathering as a chief guest at the 11th Convocation of Saveetha University held at MM Convention Centre, Saveetha Institute of Medical and Technical Sciences (SIMATS) campus in Chennai on Thursday. Thiru KP Anbalagan, Minister for Higher Education, Government of Tamil Nadu was the guest of honour.
Dr K Sivan, Chairman – Indian Space Research Organization, Dr Dibyendu Mazumdar, President – Dental Council of India, Dr G Satheesh Reddy, Scientific Advisor to Raksha Mantri, Distinguished Scientist & Director General – Missiles and Strategic Systems, DRDO and VL Indira Dutt, Managing Director – KCP Group of Companies, Chennai were conferred Doctorate Degree (Honoris Causa).
Venkaiah Naidu wished the students all the very best for future endeavours. The Vice President congratulated Saveetha University for being ethnically diverse University with students from all over world. He placed on record that Saveetha University is part of National Knowledge Network, thereby empowering students to take ownership of their future.
Venkaiah emphasised that the Government of India is keen on facing 21st century through its Digital India, Skill India, Green India, Clean India (DISIGICI) initiative. Through this initiative GOI envisages to Reform, Perform and Transform our nation’s trajectory. He advised that every student should aspire to be ideal citizens and that India is one nation despite differences in terms of language, religion, caste and creed.
