Women’s Day fete held at Gitam

Visakhapatnam: International Women’s Day was celebrated in GITAM Deemed University here on Thursday with enthusiasm. Accenture organised a special programme to motivate the students. 

While inaugurating the programme, GITAM Vice-Chancellor Prof MS Prasada Rao said that women education is a key factor for women empowerment and women workforce is increasing in IT sector for last 10 years in the country.  Accenture officials informed that they are focussing to achieve gender balance in the organisation by 2020. 

GITAM Pro Vice-Chancellor Prof K.Sivarama Krishna, Registrar Prof M.Potharaju, GITAM Institute of Technology Principal Prof K Lakshmiprasad participated in the programme. On the occasion, A programme was organised at GITAM School of Law. The District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Secretary Damodara Rao attended as chief guest and briefed about the history of International Women's Day and enlightened about how India protected the interests of the women from Vedic period to the present day and stressed the various special provisions available to women under Indian Constitution.
