Bangla team hails Aga Khan Academy

Hyderabad: A five-member high-profile government delegation from Bangladesh was bowled over by the academic culture that Aga Khan Academy symbolises and stands for. 
 
Led by Munir Merali, Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN) Ambassador to Bangladesh, the team is in town to explore the social benefit and impact that an Academy can bring to its immediate neighborhood, as a prelude to the proposed Aga Khan Academy in Dhaka.

They were impressed by the vision of Aga Khan to bring about the well-being of the people by providing world class education for ‘homegrown leaders of the future.’

The delegation comprised of representatives of Departments of Foreign Affairs; Income & Revenue; Finance; Primary and Mass Education; Housing and Public Works and Media Communications, besides from Bank of Bangladesh

As part of the two-day exposure visit the delegation went around the Qutub Shahi Tombs and saw the restoration project being undertaken by Aga Khan Trust for Culture (AKTC) in partnership with the State Government’s Tourism Department. 

They were taken on a guided tour of the 100-acre campus and personally witnessed its world class infrastructure. They had a series of engagements with students; management; faculty and the senior leadership team.

Later, Merali stated that their purpose of building a cadre of ‘champions and well-wishers’ within the Bangladesh government had paid rich dividends.

“We cannot explain what is unique about an Academy until you have experienced it. The new Academy in Dhaka will be one of the AKDN’s most significant projects in Bangladesh, and we are only responding to the support you have already offered by sharing the vision of our program through this trip,” he told the Indian administrators.
