YSR Congress to Protest Fee Reimbursement Cuts with Two-Day Deeksha at Indira Park

Hyderabad: YSR Congress Party honorary President YS Vijayamma will launch a two-day deeksha at Indira Park on Thursday to protest against the dilution of fee reimbursement scheme by the State government.

Appealing to the students and parents to join the agitation and make it a grand success, party senior leader B Karunakar Reddy said the fee reimbursement scheme was launched by the former Chief Minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy to bring higher education within the reach of economically poor students belonging to backward and other weaker sections. Government issued orders fixing a ceiling of Rs 35,000 for engineering students and diluted the scheme.

He demanded that the government implement the scheme in its original form. "Such harsh measures would keep the higher and technical education away from weaker sections," he said adding, "This clearly shows that the Congress government is not interested in the welfare of weaker sections and has never been transparent in showing where the additional revenue generated was being spent." He also said that Sharmila's 'Maro Praja Prasthanam' padayatra will touch 3,000km in the first week of August and it would be a golden chapter in the world of politics.
